Welcome to the Physics Graduate Program at Universidade Federal Fluminense.

BASIC NOTIONS REGARDING ENROLLMENT

1) ENROLLMENT - SCHOLARSHIP

1.1) Foreign students:

It is compulsory to register at the Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas (CPF), a social number-type document. For orientation on how to obtain it, visit the nearest post of the Federal Income Tax Bureau (Receita Federal do Brasil) . The addresses can be found at:

1.2) Foreign and local students:

Your scholarship will be deposited monthly on your bank account at any Banco do Brasil (any branch will do). You must register and obtain one, it cannot be of type Conta Poupança (Savings Account) - see http://www37.bb.com.br/portalbb/redeAtendimento/Inicio,2,2316,2316.bbx# . Make sure the account is active and capable of receiving the monthly scholarship deposits.

Note: At the UFF admin offices (Reitoria) there is a Banco do Brasil branch.

2) YOUR OFFICE AT THE PHYSICS BUILDING

Get in touch with the graduate students' representatives to be assigned an office in the Physics Buiding.

5) E-MAIL ACCOUNTS

The Graduate Office will communicate with students via their institutional email address. Registering to obtain this email address is also necessary to gain access to the common-use computers in the computer lab. To obtain an account, email  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it (the Graduate Office email address) with 3 login names, in order of preference (for example, mario, marioj, mariojs).

If you already have an institutional email (ending in @if.uff.br), please inform this fact to the Graduate office during registration.

4) KEEPING IN TOUCH WITH THE GRADUATE OFFICE

Please use email as the preferred form of communicating with the Graduate Office.

The Office will provide documents (such as a copy of your graduate record, enrollment statements, etc) as necessary, but please get in touch with the office at least three days prior to your needs. The student will be informed by email when the documents are ready for pick-up.

5) GENERAL INFORMATION

A) We advise the students to regularly check the graduate course website: http://www.if.uff.br/en/posgraduacao. Important information is available, such as administrative structure, course rules, list of accredited faculty, masters and doctoral students, etc.

B) Please pay attention to the information available at: Academic calendar and Forms and regulations.

C) For foreigners and students who do not know the Institute of Physics at UFF, we suggest looking for the student representatives, who can help in different situations, such as: show the main facilities of the physics buildings, show how and where to catch buses, which neighborhoods to live, etc.
