Título: Dynamical Mean Field Theory applied to electronic structure

Basic concepts behind electronic structure theory, as formulated by
density functional theory, will be given in this talk, and few
examples on the reliability of this method in reproducing experimental
data will be given. Certain materials are however less accurately
described by density functional theory, e.g. materials with strong
electron correlations, for which a mean field treatment is a poor
approximation. Dynamical mean field theory treats local correlations
and has been shown to accurately take correlation effects into account
for several correlated systems. In this talk the basic aspects of the
implementation of dynamical mean field theory in combination with a
full-potential electronic structure method will be presented, and a
few examples of correlated electronic structures will be given, e.g.
transition metal oxides, rare-earth elements as well as diluted
magnetic semiconductors.
