Título: The fluid propagation in 2D porous media, an example of the coupling of statistical models

One of the most important questions in petroleum extraction engineering is the quality and the quantity of extracted oil as a function of injected water (in the displacement method). Any prediction in this subject definitely needs a detailed information about the reservoir, and also a theory to model the fluid propagation in the porous media as a host. Sometimes percolation theory (and other variants) is used to predict the propagation pattern, which ignores the dynamical features of the fluid. In this talk, I will present another possibility, that is the self-organized critical (SOC) mode of dynamics which has close similarities with the Darcy's reservoir model which is served as the most realistic model. I present the numerical evidences that strengths this similarity. Also some modifications of the host porous media are considered which are based on turning on the correlations between imperfections of the porous media. These correlations are tuned by an artificial temperature of an Ising model. The overall subject lies within the context of coupling of statistical models. All of the analysis has been done for two dimensional systems.
