We revisit the SU(2)-symmetric spin-1 chain with random quadratic and biquadratic coupling constants. Despite the effects of disorder has been previously investigated, we find a new phase in which SU(3) symmetry is dynamically restored by disorder. This phase is an exotic one in the sense its ground state is composed of randomly distributed SU(3) singlets, and its dynamics is of activated type. Its thermodynamics is investigated and implications to experiments are discussed.
